Introduction to Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) [LS-1E] – NEW

Goals: 
The course participants learn the fundamentals and the principles of SPR methodologies and analytics, selected examples for application as well as advantages and disadvantages compared to other surface analytical methods and techniques.

Target Group:
Heads of laboratories, scientific personnel in R & D laboratories, who want to acquire basic knowledge about SPR, who want to refresh or expand their previously acquired knowledge on SPR and researchers, who are involved with surface analytics, adsorption processes e.g. at the solid - liquid interface, and the determination of kinetic and thermodynamic properties of biomolecules.

  • Typical questions and issues in surface analytics
  • Physics and fundamentals of SPR
  • Layout and function of typical SPR apparatuses
  • Measurement methods of SPR
  • Qualitative and quantitative Analysis of SPR data
  • Impact of experimental parameters on SPR data
  • Sensor layers
  • Examples for application of SPR and practical advice
  • New SPR methods, including microscopy and coupling / hyphenation with other complementary techniques

Approach:

  • Theoretical introduction to the basics of SPR and different variants of SPR experiments
  • Discussion of applications using exemplary examples
  • Practical hints as well as question & answer session
